mary pat + jonathan | cylburn arboretum engagement | baltimore wedding photographer

I always love when couples with a deep connection to Baltimore, return here to get married. It reminds me of our love story a bit: planning a September wedding from afar, where the main goal is for everyone to have fun!!

Mary Pat is originally from Baltimore and still has a large amount of extended family in the area. These lovebirds currently live in Boston, so when I found out they’re working with Courtney of Moore & Company Event Stylists to help execute their wedding day vision, I knew this was going to be not only a fun wedding for their guests, but a rewarding and amazing experience to be a part of as their wedding photographer!cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0005
With a love of being outdoors, Mary Pat and Jonathan’s Cylburn Arboretum engagement session was such a gorgeous location to capture their joy and adorable love! Not to mention, how amazing is Mary Pat’s coral dress?! It was the perfect pop of vibrant color among all of the light pink crepe myrtles and greenery.cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0003cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0012cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0006
Cylburn’s historic mansion is one of my favorite pieces of architecture in Charm City; both elegant and approachable, it is surrounded by the most colorful and lush gardens.cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0011cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0007cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0001cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0008cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0009cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0002I had the best time getting to know you both a bit more and love that you were such troopers as we strolled around the arboretum on one of the hottest nights of the summer! I can. not. wait. for your wedding at Frederick Douglass Maritime Park in Fells Point… kicking off the start of a busy fall wedding season at a waterfront ceremony on the pier is my kind of idea of wedded bliss!!cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0013cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0010cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0014cylburn-arboretum-baltimore-engagement_0015Cheers to officially starting married life together on the water among cool breezes and golden sunsets… so honored and excited to capture your wedding day!!

annie + chris | fells point wedding | baltimore wedding photographer

Making each other laugh is one of the most important aspects of any relationship. Not only was Annie + Chris’ wedding a celebration of their love and commitment to each other, but it was one incredible laughter filled moment after another!!

I remember hearing Annie talk about her boyfriend years back when we first met. She’d tell me how she couldn’t wait until the day he got around to proposing so she could plan their wedding and they “would just be married already!” Well, lady, it’s official. You two are officially husband and wife and a perfect match (although you do have some catching up to do in the height department, ha)!

Your vision of this day came together beautifully and we’re so honored to have been able to capture it all!!

The Camden Yards ticket window makes me feel so nostalgic for a day at the ballpark. I love that Chris was able to get ready there with all of his groomsman by his side!!

I don’t know about you, but I’m STILL obsessed with these striped navy blue bridesmaids dresses! Annie, you have such adorable taste – all of the navy and white classic wedding details were spot on!! So stylish, fun and timeless all at the same time.

The guys had so much fun and were so lucky to get ready at Camden Yards!! Talk about a quintessential Baltimore experience on your wedding day; for a groom that’s never been far from a baseball diamond, it was perfect.

When your second shooter NAILS IT!!

I remember Annie telling me she really wanted to have a photo of Chris’ reaction as she walked down the aisle (…would there be tears?). Well, that’s a shot we always prioritize capturing; especially in this instance, you can see why.

When it hits you… that “we’re married” moment! Like no other!!

After the ceremony we captured portraits of the new Mr. + Mrs. Merrick in Otterbein and it was absolutely perfect! We found a quaint cobblestone filled alley street (like Baltimore has so many of!) and got cozy among golden hour light and love. We only had a few minutes before whisking away to the reception, but I’m so glad we made some time to capture these moments of the newlyweds – just look at how Chris looks at his new WIFE! I love it.

best bridal party intro ever!!!

Chris’ brother Kevin, was on Ninja Warrior’s college madness show this past Fall. He’s quite an athlete and introduced himself by flipping across the dance floor! It all happened so fast… but here’s proof that he nailed the landing. 🙂

oh, the epic speeches…

This right here, might have been the most amazing reception moment I’ve had in my career… all of a sudden, Smooth Criminal came on and Annie ROCKED it out with such fierce moves, I felt like I should have paid for tickets to the show!

“Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?”

You’re stuck with him now, Annie! 😉

Cheers to a beautiful couple and an amazing family! We wish you lots of love, laughter and Louisiana memories to relive forever and ever!

jill andrews gowns | custom wedding atelier | baltimore wedding photographer

When getting back from a European vacation involves a behind-the-scenes shoot at Fox 45 Baltimore with Jill Andrews, it’s one of those pinch yourself moments!

Jill is an incredibly talented, passionate and creative custom wedding dress designer based in Baltimore (and located in the most inspiring historic “castles” in Baltimore, but that’s a story for another day!). Many months ago, we bonded over our Long Island upbringing and love/hate relationship of the accent. Since then I’ve discovered Jill’s love of all things vintage (you need to see her chandelier collection!) and we both share an appreciation for brides and weddings that dare to do things differently… 🙂

Her pieces are all handmade using fabrics, elements and inspiration from all over the world. One of my favorite aspects of her work is the depth she works into her designs; each detail adds to the story and compliments the bride’s figure in a delicate and feminine way.

Oh, the layers. Layers upon layers of precisely constructed tulle, lace, and silk. LOVE.

Jasika of Two Back Flats was the hair stylist for our gorgeous models and man, is she talented at her craft.

I had so much fun capturing so much timeless beauty with all of you! I can only hope more brides choose to have Jill design their wedding dress so that we can work together again soon! And, if you’re a bride with a connection to Long Island, let me know. I’d bet we could bond over more than just our love/hate accent relationship… 😉

devan + bryce | jerusalem mill village | baltimore engagement session

If rain on your wedding day is supposed to mean good luck for your marriage…

What does it mean when it rains on your engagement session? Double the good luck AND that you have the best clients ever when they meet up with you and just say “let’s do this”! 🙂 I kept checking the forecast and crossing my fingers, but since these sweethearts came all the way from Richmond for the weekend, we didn’t have that many options for rescheduling our time together… and I’m so glad they were willing to stick with it! Just look at how rich and lush the trees were!!

Oh and if you’re as adorable as Devan, it means you still get your hair blown dry as if it wasn’t 98% humidity outside and you roll with it as if your sandaled feet weren’t getting full of wet grass.

Jerusalem Mill Village is one of my favorite spots to explore with couples! There are so many textures, colors, historic elements and such a wonderful balance between built and natural environments. Throw gorgeous lovebirds like these in front of all of those backdrops and I get all sorts of giddy…

Bryce met Devan while she was in between semesters of grad school; their relationship persevered through working 70+ hours per week while dating long distance… their connection and passion for each other is so evident, I’m pretty sure I had a smile plastered to my face the whole time we were together!

Playful giggles and lots of tickles. Isn’t that what rainy days are made for? 🙂

Devan even brought their own clear bubble umbrella to use… #rockstarclients.

Then it was time for an outfit change and just when I thought I loved the turquoise and white combination, this happened…

We ended at the covered bridge at the perfect moment! A pastel sunset sky revealed itself and showed all of us how lucky rainy days truly are.

Cheers to dancing in the rain and making the most of it! We’re so excited for you both and can’t wait for your Richmond wedding this fall!

wedding day firsts | baltimore wedding photographer

You know what I hope for all of my brides? That the wedding planning process is going more smoothly than this month’s weather has been acting… what is up with mother nature?! This morning I woke up to snow falling steadily outside as it stuck to the ground for a few hours before melting quickly as temperatures rose to the 50s by 4pm.

While gearing up for our final coordination meeting this week for our first wedding of the year, I wanted to take a breath and invite you to relive some of my favorite ‘first’ moments from last year (and some from the year before)… I’m pretty sure they’ll be just what you need, if you’re in the mood to smile! 🙂

debbie + mitchell | remington wine company | baltimore anniversary photographer

Those of you who remember Chesapeake Wine Company, will remember it for the neighborhood fixture that it was when Debbie + Mitchell owned it. As one of our original #urpcouples, their wedding reception at the CWC store itself speaks to the charm and vitality that exuded from it! Fast forward 5 years to their newest labor of love, Remington Wine Company, adjacent to R House. After investing so much of their blood, sweat and tears into renovating this space to be the inviting local wine shop that it is, it was the obvious choice for an anniversary photoshoot!

Mitchell’s passion for wine and knowledge of the process, industry and small-business ownership is invigorating. Debbie’s love for supporting local food talent, understanding well-designed spaces and establishing an inviting yet unique sensibility to their new Remington store, has created the perfect blend.

maryland science center | baltimore, md wedding | kristina + ed

For devoted Star Wars fans and science geeks that loved the idea of exchanging vows under a starry sky (with the exact sky from their first date, mind you. During the ceremony, the sky transitioned to their wedding date! Technology is amazing…), the Maryland Science Center was quite the perfect fit for Kristina and Ed’s Baltimore wedding! These two are so perfect together – they have a quiet, calm sensibility about them but I just love how with one look from Kristina, Ed’s face breaks out into the biggest smile you’ve ever seen. You may remember their adorable love from our Federal Hill engagement session… can you recognize Ed? I almost didn’t! 😉

The bridal party got ready at the Lord Baltimore Hotel on Baltimore St. It was the perfect historic setting to contrast the contemporary architecture of the Science Center where they exchanged vows and celebrated as husband and wife.

4_urbanrowphoto_lord_baltimore_hotel5_urbanrowphoto_wedding_ring6_urbanrowphoto_jewelry_detailsKristina gave her girls gold Kate Spade charm bracelets that had the words ‘Partner In Crime’ engraved and were the perfect accessory with their bordeaux bridesmaid gowns. All of Kristina’s jewelry was exquisite; just the right amount of sparkle to create a timeless and classic look. The necklace Ed gave her brought tears to my eyes!

My second shooter (who happens to be my husband!) has 5 brothers, so he was completely at home with the idea of lots of men getting ready together in a small hotel room. There were so many fun, candid moments of guys just being guys.
11_urbanrowphoto_groomsmenWe searched for the perfect location for their first look and at the last minute, stumbled on the overlook to the hotel’s ballroom. This intimate series is one of my favorites from their day.

federal hill park | baltimore engagement session | kristina + ed

I’ve loved getting to know Kristina and Ed over the last few months – each time we’re together, we learn of more mutual friends we have in common (…it is quite a small world!) and I get to hear more about their love for all-things-science-related and Star Wars. Just wait until you see the details they are planning for their ‘nerdy chic’ wedding!

We decided to start their engagement session at Federal Hill Park, just steps away from their inner harbor wedding venue, the Maryland Science Center. The sky showed up big time, with perfectly dramatic clouds (looking imposing, but no rain!) and soft golden light.

Aren’t they the cutest? I really feel like they should be J. Crew models.

After a wardrobe change, it was getting closer to sunset and we spent some time discovering West Covington Park. It’s one of the newest parks to open along the Patapsco River and is an undiscovered gem! This 12 acre brownfield site was designed to foster native plants and wildlife and has a great network of meandering trails along the water.

Notice Ed’s socks in the photo below? What a fun way to sneak in some Maryland pride, I loved it. I can’t wait to see his socks on their wedding day!
We wrapped things up at the fishing pier cantilevered over the river. Kristina and Ed were so great at looking like professional models that do this all the time as I asked them to get all cozy while we tiptoed around a group of fisherman and all their gear, just out of frame in these photos! 🙂

You two have such a natural chemistry – we can’t wait to photograph your wedding in less than a month! Here’s to celebrating your love with all of your family and friends in what promises to be the best ‘nerdy chic’ wedding Baltimore has ever seen!

stone tavern farm | roxbury, ny wedding | karen + steve

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to the Catskills, and driven through the windy mountainous NY highway roads lined with trees, lakes and small town main streets. But wow, does that sort of fresh air do wonders for your soul!

At the end of August, Karen and Steve (the 5th brother-in-law out of 6 to get married, and the other half of the twins that get married this summer!) were married at one of the most picturesque and totally ‘them’ locations you could imagine: the 400-acre Stone Tavern Farm with horses, barns, a swimmable lake, hiking trails, campsites, log cabins to stay in, paintball…! It was an epic wedding weekend. I brought my camera with me in hopes of capturing just some of the beauty, excitement and memories being made.

The cabin we stayed in overlooked an enormous field of wildflowers and each morning you’d wake up to an incredibly quiet and peaceful fog that would burn off by lunchtime. Intricate spider webs were everywhere and I was enamored. This was just the start of one of them…

The weather was unbelievably perfect. Every view was more picturesque than the next.

The perfect blend of humor, romance, and marriage advice. 🙂 Side note, did you notice that incredible oak tree they got married in front of and the handmade cedar chuppah? So simply beautiful.

Your wedding weekend was the perfect balance of relaxing and energizing. We love you so much and can’t wait to celebrate more happy occasions in the future! I have no doubt that any future family gatherings you host will always continue until 2am with plenty of good music, food and beer/wine flowing. 😉
